B – Team report by Georgia Dove and Ellis Fenwick

On Monday 17th March the year 5 netball girls took part in a tournament. Georgia and Ellis are here to tell you about how the B team performed.

Georgia, Yassmeen and Ellis were in Mrs Williams’ car. Mrs Williams couldn’t find the school where the tournament took place, but luckily the girls found it.

When we got there Lou-lou and Lauren started to practice their shots and then it started. Our first game was against Westley A Team. We had a score of  6-0 to Westley.

Our second game was against Hardwick. The score was 3-0 to Hardwick. The next game was against St. Louis (their only team). We played our hardest this time. The score was 4-0 to St Louis.

Finally we played some other B Teams. Out first B-Team match was against Beyton. This was our closest match. The score was 4-3 to Beyton. Now this match we really played hard because it was out last. We played against Bacton B Team. We had half the score of our opposition; they had 4 so we had 2.

Unfortunately we lost every match we played, but we all tried our hardest.

A –Team report by Kira Goddard, Yaz and Charlotte

On Monday 17th of March some Year 5 girls went to Westley Middle school to play in the West Suffolk Netball Tournament.

The first game was against Bacton. We scored an amazing score of 10-0, with Kira and Charlotte as the shooters.

The second game was against Westley B team. It was one of the hardest games of the tournament because Charlotte Folan, one of our best shooters had to go off because she twisted her ankle. We were lucky because we still had Kira, and Sophie Hooke as a sub. We scored a lucky 3-1. We had to work really hard.

The third game was against Beyton. They were really rough so we had to work extra hard. But we still won a close 3-1 again.

The next game was our semi final. We played St Louis. We were all really excited because we made it into the semi-final. They were quite hard but we still won 6-2. So far we were unbeatable. That meant that we were in the finals.

It was the finals, we were all really excited but still nervous. It was against Westley A Team, the hardest team in the tournament. At first theu scored more that us and we got nervous. We really didn’t want to loose it so we all really worked harder and we were able to score a terrific 7-3. We were all really relieved and we got Gold medals. It was a great day.

The A Team Netball Tournament
(C. Ball & S.Carter)

On Saturday 23rd of February Stoke-by-Nayland Middle School netballers went to a tournament at Great Cornard Upper School. The Schools we played were Bacton, Westley, Hardwick, Beyton, St James, and Howard. These are team “A”s results.

Our first game was against Bacton. With great passing from Sophie C, Francesca, Kate and Camille we were able to score 14 goals. Then ending the game 14-0.

Our second game was against Beyton! Although Beyton were harder to beat than Bacton we managed to win 8-1 thanks to Kate with fantastic shooting.

Thirdly we played Westley, one of the hardest teams in the tournament, but luckily with Joanna as Goal Keeper and Olivia on the Wing Defence we managed to get the ball back to Camille. Therefore she scored 6 goals and was asked to transfer to Westley for £75,000, but for us it was no-where near enough. We ended the game 6-2.

Our fourth game was great thanks to Sophie English who defended so well she kept the ball at their goal! Then there was more great shooting from Kate and Camille, therefore we won the game with a fantastic 15-0.

Our fifth game was definitely the hardest. Our first half was not so good. But with a talk from Mrs Denby and Mrs Williams at half time it gave us a boost of confidence. With great teamwork Kate and Camille managed to score 4 goals and we won the game 4-2.

Our last game was our best game. With great teamwork from everyone, they got the ball to Kate and Camille in seconds who between them scored 16 goals. We won the game 16-0.

In the end we won every match and came 1st in the tournament. We would like to thank Mrs Williams fro being such a great coach and being so supportive. Also Mrs Denby and Mr Bancroft for coming to the tournament and supporting us.

The B Team Netball Tournament

(P. Boaler-Hysett & Z. Gillgrass)

On Saturday the 23rd of February, Stoke-by-Nayland Netball squad were at Cornard Upper School Warming up for the tournament.

This is how the B team did.

Our first match was against Bacton. With great passing from Zoe and great shooting from Charlotte we came away with a fantastic score of 12-0.

The second match we played was against Westley, with Jess Bugg making accurate and fast passing in the second half and with more great shooting from Patsy and Charlotte we had another great score of 7-0

The more matches we played the more tired we got. There were only three teams including us. We had to play Bacton again.

This time they were better, though they were not strong enough to beat us.

Their goal defence was better at marking, but with some clever and high passing from Laura , Katie and Amy we managed to come away with a score of 6-0.

The 4th and final game was against Westley. This did not go to plan. They scored the first two goals and Zoe got a nosebleed and had to sit out, we all started to get worried.

Mrs Denby rearranged our positions and we thought to ourselves "We have not lost a match and we are not about to start now". So we fought hard and won! The score was 9-2.

We all gathered round the score table waiting for the B team results, one of the ladies said
"In third place... is Bacton, in second place... is Westley, and in first place ... Stoke-by-Nayland.

Patsy was asked as the Captain of the B team to come forward and collect the trophy and certificate. Then one by one we got our medals. We were over the moon. We had actually won!
