PUPIL RECEPTION.
After half term Year 8 pupils will be manning a newly created Pupil Reception area.  Each pupil will spend one day at the pupil reception desk (situated just inside the front door).   Their main duties will be to welcome visitors to the school, show visitors to rooms and deal with enquiries from other pupils.  We hope that this will be a worthwhile experience for the pupils, and help them to develop their organisational and communication skills.
YOUTH CONFERENCE
On Monday 8 October Thomas Green, Amy Lane, Harry Dean and Evie Sprackling went to the Stoke by Nayland Golf Club as representatives of the school council.   Whilst there we took part in three workshops about our carbon footprint, food mileage, and shapes and space around us.   We learnt a lot and had great fun and met people from different schools and organisations.                                 By Amy Lane

DINING ROOM

The Roald Dahl lunch was a great success.   We hope you all enjoyed it.

We have a special menu for Halloween which is displayed in each class and around the dining hall.   We hope     to see as many faces as we did for Roald  Dahl.   The Halloween lunch will be on Tuesday 30 October.

WINTER WARMERS

Unfortunately the Summer has gone, but a nice warm lunch will keep you going until home time.

DYSLEXIA AND READING TALK

The Dyslexia and Reading talk by Elaine Mutten was a great success.   Thank you to all who attended.   It was fabulous to have teachers, parents and students learning together.   If there are any educational issues that you would like to know more about please let me know and I will try to arrange an ‘expert’ speaker to visit the school.

Meanwhile, another date for your diary is the 10th December at 4.00 p.m. when representatives from the Speech and Language team will be giving a workshop on communication and will be providing handy hints on developing comprehension.   You are cordially invited.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A parent has suggested that we might like to produce a leaflet containing answers to frequently asked questions.  This could be very helpful for new parents joining the school in Year 5.

We think this is an excellent idea and would like to invite parents to join a small workshop to identify what should be included in the leaflet.  The workshop will be run here at school by parents.  If you would like to help with this activity please phone the office on 01206 262362 and give Brenda Lock your name.  Thank you.

NON PUPIL DAY
The government has awarded secondary schools an extra training day for the new Key Stage 3 curriculum.  We will liaise with the Upper School so that we both take the same day.  We will let you know the date as soon as possible.
